Before formally announcing the group, the members of Phụ Lục carried out a series of sketches and experimental actions in various locations. In 2010, during a trip to the hometown of artist Nguyễn Đức Phương (Phương Giò) in Ước Lễ village, Vũ Đức Toàn and Nguyễn Huy An spontaneously conducted an improvised performance in an old classroom.
